Normal life across the state was hit on Wednesday following the strike called by trade unions as part of country-wide agitation against what they called the Centre’s anti-labour policies.

Left parties and various trade unions took out impressive rallies in all the districts, bringing vehicular movement on National Highways to a halt at several places.

Banks remained closed and traders were forced to down their shutters at some places. RTC buses remained off the road for several hours in the morning as RTC employees themselves stopped them from plying. Several industries too remained shut, affecting production.
