Kakinada: As part of utilising Information Technology, an English medium school in Kakinada has introduced computerised education from this academic year by making use of Tablet computers which are commonly called as Tabs.

The school has supplied specially designed Tabs to those students who can afford it. Students can read their lessons on the Tabs and prepare questions and answers by making use of the device. “It will reduce the burden of carrying text books and make it easy for the students to acquire knowledge,” said the MSN English medium school correspondent M. Srivijay.

“It is for the first time that Andhra Pradesh state syllabus is being introduced through Tabs based teaching system which will enable students to study better,” authorities claimed.

According to the school authorities, a Bengaluru-based IT company created the software and all the subjects have been uploaded into the device. The company provides online learning facility to the students. The device has Wi-Fi facility which will be useful for students participating in national and international seminars.

The future is very challenging as the present age is the age of Information and Communication Tec-hnology and it is universally  acknowledged as an important catalyst for social transformation and national progress. The AP government’s policy is to remove information asy-mmetry among people, improve citizen services at all levels of governance, promote IT investments in the state, and develop human resources through IT. At this juncture computer education has been made an important part of school education, said Kakinada MLA Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao.

He said that the development of syllabus, training manuals and teaching learning materials are the objectives of the government. He stressed the need for all the schools, both private and government, to adapt computer based education by using Tabs instead of books. The physical burden of textbooks will be less.

Nehru Educational Soc-iety Chairman and the State Aided Schools Ma-nagement Association pr-esident K. Adinarayana requested the state government to prepare software for Telugu medium students too. He said that the schools are getting  ready for utilising the technology for the benefit of the students.
