Engineering student arrested for ragging in Hyderabad
The police apprehended one of the accused, while the other is absconding
Hyderabad: A first year engineering student of Sree Dattha Engineering College, Ibrahimpatnam alleged that his seniors from the second year were ragging him.
He lodged a complaint with the police. The police apprehended one of the accused, while the other is absconding.
The victim B. Sanjeev Kumar is studying first year Mechanical Engineering, while the accused Shiva Raju and Rajesh are studying second year of the same course.
Police said Sanjeev had an argument with his senior during the college fresher's party a few days ago. Keeping that in mind, Shiva and Raju called him from his hostel to talk on Thursday.
“They took him to an open place and beat him up with sticks. He suffered injuries on his hands and legs,” said Ibrahimpatnam inspector P. Jagadeeshwar.
Sanjeev was discharged from hospital after treatment. Police registered a case under Section 4(3) of the Anti-Ragging Act and Section 324 of IPC.
The police has launched a manhunt to nab the second accused who is absconding.
