Visakhapatnam: The PM Palem police have registered a case under Sections 376, 417, 420 and SC, ST Atrocities Act on Thursday against mandal parishad development officer (MPDO) of V Madugula in the district, R. Satyanarayana for indulging in alleged sexual harassment, rape and cheating of a tribal woman Korra Lakshmi of Araku in the Agency.
The complainant Korra Lakshmi was working as a sweeper on contract basis at the MPDO Office, Araku. Satyanarayana assumed charge as MPDO, Araku in February 2015 and the woman also started working in his house. He then trapped the woman, who is a widow and mother of two children and repeatedly sexually exploited her and he even promised to marry her. The woman with the support of a few women’s organisations lodged a complaint against Satyanarayana with Araku valley police station on June 11 this year after Satyanarayana cheated her.
Recently, Satyanarayana began his trials to desert her and in that process, local MPP Arjuna, village sarpanch and two others brought her to Simhachalam along with the MPDO to a guesthouse and took an assurance from the MPDO on a stamped paper promising that he would pay her Rs 3,000 per month. Later, the woman was put in a rented accommodation at Rajiv Gruha Kalpa, Marikavalasa on the city outskirts for the last three months.
Irked when the woman began insisting payment of rent for the last month and to take her to a doctor as she was suffering from a pain in her eyes, Satyanarayana took her directly to the Government Hospital for Mental Care at Pedawaltair and admitted the innocent woman on August 26. The woman got a doubt that it was not an eye hospital when the doctors were about to treat her. She pleaded with the doctors the next day that she is not a mad woman and appealed to discharge her after revealing her story.
