Chennai: The state is making all efforts to enhance the food security and the storage capacity of 10 food storage godowns will be renovated and compound walls strengthened at a cost of Rs 4.5 crore, food minister R. Kamaraj informed the Assembly in Thursday.
He also said 1,803 family cards have been issued for transgenders and more than four lakh fake ration cards revoked in Tamil Nadu. Pointing out that 189 vacant posts in his department will be filled, he said 162 ultra violet light traps at an estimate of Rs 8 lakh will be purchased to safeguard food grains from pests and insects.
