Kunnoth Prajith returns home from Riyadh prison
Fourth successful case taken up by online forums to aid those innocent working abroad
KOZHIKODE: A native of Kuttiattoor in Kannur district, who was imprisoned in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for over nine months on a false charge, was brought back home thanks to the efforts of online forums.
Kunnoth Prajith, who was working in an oil company as a tanker driver, was once cheated by his colleague from Pakistan who fled with the tanker during a trip.
Though he informed his boss about the incident, Prajith was accused of theft of oil worth 1, 60,000 riyals and put behind bars on November 11, 2014.
Prajith was also asked to return the full amount to the complainant within a short time. The same online forums that had rescued Jayachandran Mokari, Rajesha and Rubina from Maldives took up Prajith’s case with the government and the embassy which led to his release, said writer and activist Myna Ubaiban.
“This was the fourth case taken up successfully by these forums which go to the aid of our innocent people working abroad. Similar cases are reported from many Arabian countries where more Indians are working,” Myna said.
