Ugrappa has filed an application for deletion of his name from the electoral list in Pavagada
Bengaluru: The state BJP has alleged that nominated Congress MLC in the Legislative Council, V.S. Ugrappa has dual voting rights-he can vote in his hometown, Pavagada and in Bengaluru too.
The BJP also furnished copies of form number-7 filed by Mr Ugrappa seeking deletion of his name from the electoral list in Pavagada. The BJP claimed that after the party challenged the voting rights of nominated members in the Council, Mr. Ugrappa filed an application for deletion of his name in Pavagada on Thursday and retained his name in HSR Layout, Bengaluru.
Member cannot have dual voting rights, knowing this fact, Mr Ugrappa has filed an application for deletion of his name from the electoral list in Pavagada. The BJP claimed that Mr Ugrappa had filed the application just two days back.
When contacted, Mr. Ugrappa said that he had dual voting rights after his name was enrolled in the Bengaluru electoral list in 2010, adding that he filed an application for deletion of his name in Pavagada taluk a long time ago. Mr. Ugrappa dismissed the BJP claim that he had filed a fresh application for deletion of his name from the electoral list.
“It is a false allegation, I have not filed a fresh application, long back I had filed one for deletion of my name from the Pavagada electoral list”, he said.
