On the occasion of Teacher’s Day, actors recall teachers that left them intimidated and share some quirky memories from schooldays.

Saif Ali Khan-I had an Islamic "maulvi," who after school in Bombay used to teach me Kuranic studies while growing up. He would hit my knuckles with a ruler if I made mistakes. I complained to my mother.(I was 6)but it was part of growing up. I used to be very scared of him...but I still haven't forgotten what he taught me...!His name was Ghaus Bhai.. What I learnt was that the only way to deal with it, was no mistakes.

Elli Avram- I remember one at my preschool her name was Tina and everyone was scared of her because she used to be so strict. No one even dared to say a word. I remember once I was the last child left to get picked up and she was the teacher that was left and I clearly remember how I was sitting and painting so focused and not looking up so that I didn't had to answer her if she would ask me something. And when finally my dad came and picked up I just rushed up and put on my clothes to leave quickly (laughs)

Amrita Rao-I had this Algebra and Geometry teacher in school named Sheetal . She had poker straight face all throughout. She would write on the board sternly. She would draw some figures on the black board sternly and say 'who can do this sum on the board?’ We used to shudder and shiver and our minds froze as she would just blankly stare.

Preetika Rao-We had a teacher called Pam whom the whole school was petrified off. When she would enter the class to noisy class would suddenly startle with pin drop silence. She had this quirky habit of entering the class and walking to the window and staring outside for 15 minutes. After that she would turn and open a book and look at the class as say "who can do the next sum" then one girl would raise her hand and do the sum on the board. And then the teacher would explain the sum depending on her mood. I was in 6th grade then.
