It looks like actor Vemel, who’s awaiting the release of Maapla Singam and Anjala, has taken to singing quite seriously! We learn that he has been attending music classes diligently because he wants to sing in movies soon.

“Yes, I have always wanted to try my hands at classical music since my days at Koothu-p-pattarai. The place gave us terrific exposure as far as arts are concerned — but I was more focused on honing my acting skills then. Now, I have seized the opportunity again to learn Carnatic music from Venkatram master, who resides in West Mambalam. Composer Raghunandan introduced me to him,” Vemel says, excitedly.

The actor who goes for weekly classes also adds that he wanted to know the basics clearly, before venturing into playback singing. Will he be singing in his next with director Boopathy Pandian? “I would love to, but the final call is with the crew and the music director,” he says modestly.
