Narendra Modi to flag off Delhi-Faridabad Metro Line tomorrow
The total cost of the project from Badarpur to Escorts Mujesar was Rs 2,500 crore
Chandigarh: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Sunday inaugurate the Delhi-Faridabad Metro Line that would allow hassle free travel for around two lakh daily commuters between the national capital and the industrial hub in Haryana.
"Prime Minister Modi will flag off the extension of Delhi Metro from Badarpur to Escorts Mujesar in Faridabad tomorrow," a Haryana Government spokesperson said here today.
The Prime Minister would be received from a helipad in Faridabad tomorrow by Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Union Ministers Krishan Pal(an MP from Faridabad), Babul Supriyo, among others.
From there he would travel to Escorts Mujesar Metro station in a car and unveil a plaque and inaugurate the Metro Extension by pressing a button, the spokesperson said.
"He would visit an exhibition at Escorts Mujesar station, board the Metro from there and travel up to Bata Chowk," he said.
Meanwhile, addressing a press conference in Faridabad today, Khattar thanked the Prime Minister for "gifting" the Metro service, which would take the city to "another level of progress" with better connectivity with other NCR towns. He also said that the Prime Minister would be announcing the go-ahead for connecting Gurgaon with Faridabad by Metro.
Elaborating on financial details of the Faridabad Metro, Khattar said, the total cost of the project from Badarpur to Escorts Mujesar was to the tune of Rs 2,500 crore.
Out of this, Rs 1,557 crore has been borne by the Haryana Government, Centre contributed Rs 537 crore while Delhi Metro provided and amount of Rs 400 crore, the CM said.
Haryana Governor Solanki, Khattar, Union Ministers Venkaiah Naidu, Birender Singh, Rao lnderjlt Singh, Krishan Pal, Babul Supriyo, Chairman of DMRC and others would accompany him in the inaugural ride, the spokesperson said in Chandigarh.
Later PM Modi will proceed to HUDA Ground by road to address a public meeting, he said.
The Haryana government spokesperson said, "The extension of Delhi Metro from Badarpur to Escorts Mujesar will not only meet the long pending demand of about two lakh people commuting between Delhi and Faridabad every day, but also make travelling easy, save lot of time, energy and money".
A major portion of the road users will shift to this mode of transport, he said.
"The nine-station metro corridor, which was 95 per cent indigenously built will provide people a safe, affordable, quick, comfortable, reliable, environment-friendly and sustainable transport facility," the spokesperson added.
The nine stations in this section include, Sarai, NHPC Chowk, Mewala Maharajpur, Sector 28, Badkal Mor, Old Faridabad, Neelam Chowk Ajronda, Bata Chowk and Escorts Mujesar. All these are elevated and located on either side of the Delhi Mathura Road (NH-2), he said.
Khatter said that it is a very pleasant coincidence that the Metro was being inaugurated in the land of Saint Surdas on the occasion of Janmashtmi.
