TMC rallies against toll plaza charges

The main demand of the demonstrators was to cut toll rates by 50 per cent

Chennai: Over 200 workers of Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC), led by  youth wing president Yuvaraja Muthuswamy, staged a demonstration at Ekkattuthangal in Guindy here demanding slashing of toll rates.

The main demand of the demonstrators was to cut toll rates by 50 per cent. They raised slogans against the policies of the state and the Central governments. They said toll plazas which did not serve any purpose should be shut down.

The high toll rates had on impact on prices of essential commodities, Yuvraja said. Earlier, the participants marched from the entrance of Olympia technological park  and were stopped by police.
