Two-year-old boy’s body washed ashore at Marina beach
The body was sent to Royapettah Hospital for postmortem
CHENNAI: The body of a two-year-old boy was washed ashore at Marina beach on Thursday night forcing police to look for his parents, who had not lodged any complaint with the city police till Friday late evening.
“It looks like the boy was thrown into the sea so that he would drown. The body washed ashore around 11.45 pm on Thursday near Avvaiyar statue,” police said.
The body was sent to Royapettah Hospital for postmortem. Unless the identity of the boy was known autopsy could not be done.
The police believe it could be case of murder because no 'missing complaint’ was lodged. The boy was wearing a blue, red and white-striped T shirt and trousers.
The police have not ruled out the possibility of somebody jumping into the sea with the child to commit suicide.
The police said there were no external injuries on the body and it looked more like a case of drowning. Also possible was that the boy would have drowned in some other beach and his body had washed ashore here, the police said.
