Sheena Bora murder case: Indrani planned crime 45 days ahead
Sheena Bora was allegedly murdered on April 24 in 2012
Mumbai: A highly placed police source disclosed that they had found material evidence to point out and prove that the alleged planning by Indrani Mukerjea to kill her daughter Sheena Bora was going on for at least 45 days prior to the day of the crime. It is learnt that as part of it three e-mails were exchanged by her, including the one that was sent a month before the murder. The emails have been recovered from her Gmail account and its panchnama has also been done, said a police source.
According to police sources, they stumbled upon this important piece of evidence while sifting through her e-mails. Indrani has a Gmail account. The police narrowed down on three e-mails sent by her. Interestingly, said sources, one e-mail was sent by Indrani on March 8, 2012 to some person. Sheena Bora was allegedly murdered on April 24 in 2012. This e-mail’s content was not disclosed by the police source, who termed it as “important” to the probe. The source said, “We have taken print outs of this e-mail. We have also done a panchnama of it so it can be proved in a court of law.” The police has also followed the same procedure with two more e-mails sent on May 4, 2012 and August 7, 2012 by Indrani from the same Gmail account after Sheena’s murder.
This e-mail, sent around 45 days before Sheena’s murder, has helped the Mumbai police establish that the murder was being planned well in advance. A senior police officer, requesting anonymity, said, “The murderers had made an elaborate plan. They took many measures to ensure they did not get caught. They performed a recce of the spot a day prior to the murder. We are investigating why Indrani chose to dump the body in Pen, Raigad and nowhere else in Maharashtra.”
The Mumbai police has also collected soil samples from the spot where Sheena’s alleged remains were buried by Pen police in the Raigad district. Another interesting development is that the Pen police had kept some “materials” found on Sheena’s alleged body back then. The soil samples, as well, as materials found from Sheena’s body are being seen as evidence in the case. The Mumbai police has managed to connect the dots in the journey the accused took from Mumbai to Raigad in the early hours of April 25 to dump Sheena’s body in the forest area of Pen. The police has established the car used in the journey and have recorded statements of the concerned persons.
They have also got a witness, an employee at a fuel pump in Raigad where they filled petrol. Statements of policemen and villagers who saw Sheena’s alleged decomposed burnt body in a suitcase have been recorded. A couple of forensic reports from Nair Hospital have confirmed that the face of Sheena matches with the skull found from Pen and that the bones too belong to a woman of Sheena’s age. The last nail in the coffin for the accused would be the DNA test being carried out by DFSL at Kalina who can establish that the remains of the woman are related to Indrani, her husband Siddarth Das and brother Mikhail.
