OROP: Bengaluru MP Rajeev Chandrasekhar brokered deal

Bengaluru: Rajya Sabha member Rajeev Chandrasekhar played a key role in ending the OROP standoff.

Mr Chandrasekhar, who spent nine long years mediating between the government and ex-servicemen, told DC over phone from New Delhi that it was a big day for the country and he was extremely proud of the government for taking the big step.

“It’s gratifying to see the response of the veterans. Post-Independence, this is the biggest decision by any government,” he said.
