Bengaluru: Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Sunday said that ex-service men need not go on an agitation for the remaining issues concerning the implementation of the One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme, as it can resolved by holding discussions.

"OROP as a principle has been accepted, full financial requirements have been fulfilled. There might be a few small issues which over a period of time will get automatically addressed. According to me the issue is more or less resolved, have you ever seen that 100 percent things are fulfilled to everyone's satisfaction?" Parrikar told the media.

"There are some issues remaining, we can discuss about that in future. There is no need to go on an agitation for that," he added.

Ex-servicemen protesting for the implementation of the OROP scheme called off their hunger strike earlier on Sunday, after receiving Prime Minister Narendra Modi's reassurance on OROP but said they will continue with their agitation.

"We are happy to announce that we have called off the hunger strike. The Government should agree to VRS and the other four points. It's legal and justified. Agitation will continue," said chairman of Indian Ex-Servicemen Movement (IESM) Major General (Retired) Satbir Singh.
