Bengaluru: Deluge brings down wall in Bengaluru, two dead

Bengaluru: Two labourers died, while seven others were critically injured after a compound wall crashed on their tin-roofed houses after a heavy downpour, near Noor Nagar Bus Stop in Chokkanahalli under Sampigehalli police station limits on Sunday night. The injured were rushed to nearby private hospitals.
Fire brigade officials said that the incident occurred around 9.30 pm while the labourers were getting ready for dinner. One of the deceased has been identified as Selvam (40). Deputy Commisioner of Police (DCP) (Northeast) Vikas Kumar Vikas said, “A portion of the compound wall collapsed on four temporary sheds that were erected alongside the wall."
The fire brigade officials said that the compound wall had grown weak because of the heavy rainfall on Sunday night. Two fire tenders and three ambulances were rushed to the spot, and the rescue operations lasted nearly one-and-a-half hours.
