BJP MP files FIR against company official for casteist remarks
BJP MP claims an official threatened her with dire consequences
Bahraich: BJP MP Savitri Bai Phule has lodged an FIR against an official of a highway construction company, accusing him of making "casteist" remarks and threatening her with dire consequences, police said on Monday.
Circle Officer Anup Kumar said that based on the complaint of the MP, an FIR has been lodged against the project manager of the company and that the matter is being investigated.
Phule along with her supporters also staged a demonstration on Sunday outside the Kotwali police station alleging delay in registration of an FIR.
The national highway from Barabanki to Rupehdiya via Bahraich is being constructed by Bhopal based Dilip Buildcon company. The BJP had lodged a complaint with Union Surface Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari alleging irregularities in construction work, after which a central team reached there on Sunday for physical verification.
In the meantime, the Bahraich MP Phule along with her supporters also reached the spot and demanded to dig at a specified point.
It is alleged that after Phule's demand, the project manager of the company Bhagwat Mishra lost his temper, made "casteist" remarks and threatened her of dire consequences. Phule also raised allegations against the police saying that when she demanded action against Mishra, they also did not "behave properly".
