Chennai: A purchase manager with Hotel Saravana Bhavan, a leading restaurant chain is in a soup following allegations of cheating and forgery by his management over purchase of groceries. The Vadapalani police detained the manager; Muthuraja (31) for questioning after the management accused him of forging and producing bogus bills for purchase of garlic and onions.  

The 31-year-old is said to have joined the Vadapalani branch of the restaurant chain as a supervisor and rose through the ranks to become the purchase manager. "He has been working in this position for the past one and half years," said a police officer.

The Vadapalani police said that they have acknowledged the complaint from the management and have initiated investigations. "The manager of the Vadapalani branch, in his complaint, has stated that Muthuraja has cheated them of Rs.1-1.5 lakh by producing bogus bills for purchasing garlic and onion in wholesale," a senior police officer said.

Investigations with other parties involved are due and also the veracity of the complaint is also to be checked as our personnel have been provided only with a few bills which they claim are forged. "No arrests have been made as of now," the senior police officer added.
