Coimbatore: Drunk climbs tower for liquor pricing
A daily wage labourer from Rathinapuri had scaled the tower in an inebriated condition
Coimbatore: A 34-year-old man, under the influence of alcohol, scaled a power transmission tower on 100 feet road in Gandhipuram on Sunday demanding that the government bring down the prices of alcohol sold in Tasmac shops.
Police said V Tamilarasan, a daily wage labourer from Rathinapuri had scaled the tower in an inebriated condition demanding that prohibition should not be enforced, besides which prices of liquor should be brought down.
Some youths in the vicinity, who were shocked to see him climbing the tower, had brought him down carefully even as he managed to climb half way up the tower. On being informed of the incident, the Rathinapuri police rushed to the spot and took him into custody. Further enquiries are on.
