ChennaiChennai-based start up GoGo Truck aims to become the ‘Ola’ for logistics. This six-month-old start-up founded by city-based IT professionals A. Vasister, Senthil Kumar K and Victor Mathew aggregates truck operators and provide mini trucks for people who wish to move their goods from one location to another.

In other words, GoGo Truck connects truck drivers to a customer closer to their pick-up location and directly adheres to their delivery needs, thus reducing cost.
“The whole idea for GoGo came from our own personal needs of moving goods. Arranging a truck was a tedious process and besides that each driver we met quoted different price for the same destination. It is then we realised that many will be facing these issues while moving their goods,” said Vasister, CEO of GoGo.

Before starting the company, the trio did an extensive market research and found that 90 per cent of truck business is unorganised in the country and is totally controlled by the drivers. The customers have little transparency on the actual price points.  GoGo was started in March this year with 20 trucks attached with the company.

The system works like this.  A customer can book a truck through GoGo’s website or through a toll- free number. Instantly, the nearest network truck driver from the pick-up location will be notified through SMS. Driver  will then contact the customer, reach the pick up location on requested time and collect the goods and deliver it to the destination.

Apart from regular consumer needs, the company is also addressing the logistics needs of e-commerce companies and small retailers.
“GoGo has introduced the transparent pricing system for both the customers and drivers. With a charge of Rs 16 per kilometer, customers need not worry about bargaining with drivers for the pricing. We attach the drivers to our network after processing a complete verification of their personal and vehicle documents,” explained Vasister who is an MBA graduate. For drivers, GoGo is reducing the idle time. “We have educated the drivers about the pricing, business model and its benefits. They are realising the potential of it and are able to increase their revenue by taking more orders at reasonable price during the idle time,” he said.

In the last few months, this self-funded company has witnessed 70 per cent growth month-on-month in terms of the number of trips. The GoGo team also has expanded and currently consists of nine members handling operations, business development and technology. “Today we have more than 100 trucks registered with us. We are trying to capture the intracity and last mile delivery space,” he said. The team is soon going to launch an app for the customers to book and track the truck.

“We are in the advanced stage of raising funds from angel investors,” he revealed. Right now GoGo is offering services only in Chennai. But, the company will soon launch its operations in Bengaluru and Coimbatore by next months.
