Visakhapatnam: Vizag MP and BJP state chief K. Haribabu has said that Prime Minister  Narendra Modi has entrusted the job to study  whether  a special category status or a special package will be beneficial for AP to Niti Aayog.

Talking to reporters here on Monday, the MP said that as soon as the Niti Aayog submits its report, the union government will take a decision on special status or special package.

“The union government,  led by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has been giving priority to Andhra Pradesh.

The state got majority funds from the Centre among other states across the country that shows the BJP government’s commitment towards, AP. Never in the history of AP as many as 5 national level institutes were launched in one year. The Centre had already  released '1,500 crore for the capital construction.

The Union government is  committed to fulfill all the provisions of the AP Reorganisation Act. Though it is not part of the AP Reorganisation Act, the  Centre had sanctioned to set up Customs Academy at Hindupur,” he said.

On the proposed railway zone, he said that the announcement is only a mere formality, since the railway ministry had already accepted the report submitted by the committee set up to look into the issue and a cabinet approval is pending after which there will be announcement. He was hopeful that the railway ministry will announce separate railway zone for AP with Vizag as headquarters which, the locals have been demanding even before the state bifurcation.

Ends//5:50pm He ridiculed the stir and agitations being taken up by the Congress leaders demanding special status, the MP, pointed that the grand old party was actually responsible for the present mess in the state.
