Jayalalithaa opens new hospital buildings in Thanjavur

The building has been constructed at a cost of Rs 4.75 crore

THANJAVUR: The Government District Headquarters hospital at Kumbakonam got a new 120-bed block on Monday. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, J.Jayalalaithaa, inaugurated it through video conferencing from Chennai. The building has been constructed at a cost of Rs 4.75 crore, has an operation theatre and a drug godown.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated several other buildings for other Government hospitals also in Thanjavur district on Monday.

A 12-bed maternity ward, an intensive care unit and an operation theatre were added to Government hospital at Pattukottai.

A six-bed maternity ward was inaugurated at Thirukattuppalli Government Hospital. Murugangudi Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Thiruvidaimaruthur taluk and Kabisthalam PHC in Papanasam panchayat union got 30-bed facility.

Following the inauguration, sweets were distributed at Kumbakonam, Pattukottai and Thirukattupalli.

MLAs M.Rangasamy, M.Rathnasamy and Durai Kannu, municipal chairpersons Rathna Sekar (Kumbakonam) and Jawahar Babu (Pattukottai) distributed sweets to people in their respective places.
