Rural women urged to make full use of postal savings

OOTY: The women folk at Uppatti rural limits in Pandalur taluk in the hills here have been asked to utilize the various savings schemes to save money and wisely use them in times of need.

The Shalom Charitable Trust (SCT) at Pandalur and the Centre for Consumer, Human Resource and Environment Protection (CCEHP) jointly organized an event the Women’s tailoring training centre to sensitize rural women on the savings schemes and to inculcate in them the significance of small savings.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Girija, the post master at Uppatti post office spoke in detail about the various savings schemes available in the post offices that suits all category of people and appealed to thewomen to utilize all these schemes to save their hard earned money that would give them a sort of financial security for the future.  She said that the savings schemes specially meant for women are very useful and every home should come forward to utilize them to better their economy besides clinging on to the habit of saving money.

S. Sivasubramanian, president of the CCHEP said that every family should realize the significance of savings and come forward to save at least 20 percent of the monthly family income.
