Kurnool: Heavy downpour on Sunday night in Karnataka and AP has resulted in the Vedavathi river, which runs along both states, overflowing with floodwater in Holagunda mandal. Around 12.5 cm of rainfall was recorded in some catchment areas of the river, according to an official source.

Villagers living near the river were alerted by officials regarding the flood situation. No casualties were reported but property worth Rs 50,000 was believed to be lost to the river.

Transport between the two states has come to a halt. Lorries and other vehicles queued up for several kilometres on both sides of the river. The Vedavathi flows through Karnataka and AP before joining the Tungabhadra river near Mantralayam.
