Vijayawada/Rajahmundry: The trial to see how Godavari water will be taken after laying pipelines for Pattiseema project seemed fine.

“This was to test how the project could be taken forward after laying the pipelines. We tested the functional ability of the canal and it was quite okay,” said an official of the AP water resources department. Earlier, CM N. Chandrababu Naidu had stressed the need to interlink the two major rivers.

In a record of sorts, he held a teleconference with 14,000 officials from the district to block level and said that AP would harness every drop of water, which was currently going waste into the sea.

In Eluru, collector K. Bhaskar said that the release of Godavari water, to be  transported through the Polavaram irrigation project’s right main canal to reach the Krishna delta through the Pattiseema lift irrigation scheme, had fructified the project to interlink the Godavari and the Krishna river.

He said that about 1.5 crore cubic metres of earth work was completed in about 40 days to make it possible.
