Hyderabad: A farmer from Nizamabad district committed suicide on the roadside at Lower Tank Bund on Wednesday morning. N. Limbaiah, 49, hanged himself from an electric post. He was in debt and depressed that he could not pay for the treatment of his son who is suffering from a chronic illness.
Sources in Nizamabad said Limbaiah’s soyabean crop, sown in three acres of land, was damaged due to drought.
Before hanging himself, Limbaiah donated about Rs 10,000, all that he had with him, to the Katta Maisamma temple. The body was found hanging at Lower Tank Bund, a few metres from the temple. On Wednesday morning, commuters were shocked to see the body hanging and alerted emergency services.
