Cop files complaint to hide murder

Hyderabad: Borrowing ideas from the Telugu film Drushyam, a police constable murdered his wife and tried to conceal her death.

Sources said that K. Ramakrishna, 29, suspected that his wife was having an affair. Following an argument, he strangled her at their home and with the help of his friend, he shifted the body to a reserve forest area and burnt her face so that she could not be identified, before burying her.

Ramakrishna, a constable in Special Protection Force was posted at Reserve Bank of India in Hyderabad. A native of Munipalli village in Jakranpally mandal of Nizamabad district, he had married Supriya, 20, of the same district in August last year.

The couple was living in a rented flat in Himayatnagar. Sources said that Ramakrishna suspected that his wife was having an affair from the beginning of their marriage.

On August 14, he lodged a complaint at the Narayanguda police station stating that his wife was missing. He said the same to Supriya’s parents and convinced them that she was missing.

He acted worried and also kept up the charade by searching for her, along with her parents, at many places in Nizamabad and Hyderabad. However, police suspected his role and questioned him.

Police said that on August 6, Ramakrishna had an argument with Supriya about her alleged affair and strangled her.

Later, he packed the body in a bag and along with his friend Pradeep, travelled to the Anantagiri reserve forest near Vikarabad in Ranga Reddy district, on his motorcycle. They burnt her face with petrol and buried her in the forest.

“On August 14, Ramakrishna lodged a complaint saying that his wife was missing. He acted smart to divert the police and (Supriya’s) family but we suspected him and questioned him,” said Narayanguda inspector Mr Bheem Reddy.

Police has registered a case of murder and produced the accused in court on Thursday.
