Land Regularisation Scheme won’t fetch much money in Hyderabad
State has to regularise 290 acres at an average of Rs 37 lakh per acre
Hyderabad: The Land Regularisation Scheme is proving to be a loss-making venture for the Telangana government in GHMC limits.
After scrutiny of applications received under payment category, it was found that the government would have to regularise 290 acres at an average price of Rs 37 lakh per acre, while the market rate that were encroached range from Rs 10 crore to Rs 30 crore per acre.
The state is thus estimated to earn only Rs 109 crore through LRS. The scheme was announced in January this year and applications were received till March in both free category and payment category.
The government recently started verification of payment category applications and conducted field-level inquiries to ascertain whether the applications were in accordance with the prescribed norms.
The state received 11,744 applications under payment category. After scrutiny and field-level inquiry, it was found that only 2,758 applications were eligible.
Applicants can pay the regularisation amount in five installments with the first installment already being paid at the time of submission of application.

* In the expensive Serilingampally mandal, about 9.2 acre need to be regularised under LRS for just Rs 7.40 crore, against the market rate of nearly Rs 30 crore per acre.
* In Malkajgiri mandal, 30 acre needs to be regularised, for just Rs 37 crore, while the market rate here is currently nearly Rs 25 crore per acre.
* In Quthbullapur mandal, 55.05 acre needs to be regularised, for Rs 29.88 crore, against a market rate of Rs 10 crore per acre.
* In Balanagar mandal, the government needs to regularise 6.08 acre, for Rs 3 crore, against a market price of Rs 10 crore per acre.
