Jaipur: While, the BJP government in Maharashtra is facing backlash over decision to ban meat during Jain festival ‘Paryushan’, the practice has been adopted in Rajasthan for decades without any controversy.

Like every year, the directorate of local bodies (DLB), Rajasthan, has issued the order for ban on meat.

The DLB first issued order on August 18 . However, it created an uproar only after the government re-issued the order with some amendments.

Jain festivals of “Paryushan” and “Samvatsari” will be observed on September 17 and 18, while on September 27 it is “Anant Chaturdashi”, which is observed both by the Jains and the Hindus.
