ANANTAPUR: A “golden gift” for Andhra Pradesh women and child welfare minister Peethala Sujatha by project officers of the Integrated Child Development Services in Kurnool has raised many eyebrows Sources said the minister had arrived in Kurnool on Wednesday on an official tour and took part in a review meeting with the ICDS project officers.

A group of CDPOs reportedly presented her a gift worth Rs 90,000 along with a gold necklace and a silk sari before the meeting.

Sources said the CDPOs had collected Rs 5,000 to present the gift. A photographer, who was at the state guest house when the CDPOs were presenting the gift to the minister, tried to take a picture but was sent out.

The minister was was not available on the phone when Deccan Chronicle tried to get her comments.
