Kannur: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan on Thursday came down heavily on RSS and SNDP for “insulting the legacy of Sree Narayana Guru”.

Addressing a seminar at Patyam Gopalan Patanagaveshana Kendram here on Thursday, Mr Balakrishnan said the RSS had first attempted to capture the legacy of Swami Vivekananda but failed.

“Later, they disowned Vivekananda legacy as his teaching were contradictory to the agenda of RSS,” he said.

“Soon they would also disown the legacy of Sree Narayana Guru as the teachings of Guru preaches universal brotherhood that is against the divisive agenda of RSS”.

He said CPM was not against SNDP, but only against a section of the leadership that conspires for a tie-up with RSS.

“How could SNDP which supports reservation for the backward communities coexist with RSS that oppose reservation and also stands for the promotion of casteism?” he asked.

A book written against RSS ideology by Sudheesh Minni, an ex-RSS worker who switched over to CPM also was released at the function.
