West Bengal to declassify 64 files concerning Subhas Chandra Bose

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, announced on Friday that all 64 files concerning Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose will be declassified from September 18.

Speaking from the State Secretariat, the Chief Minister said that the West Bengal government had decided to make all files and documents concerning Netaji public, as people deserved to know of his last days.

"We want to maintain transparency and accountability. People must know about Netaji. He was a national icon,” she reportedly said, adding that the files would be made public at the Kolkata Police Archives, in addition to taking an initiative for the digitisation of all files from 1937-1947.
