Actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan, in collaboration with the All India Film Employees Confederation (AIFEC), will be conducting a three-day film workshop for over 10,000 people working in the industry in November. We hear that G Shiva, president of AIFEC in association with Kamal, and chairman of Media and Entertainment Skills Council (MESC), will bring together 35 film unions under one roof via the workshop.
The venue is yet to be decided. It looks like this workshop will help in conducting Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for people employed in the film industry. This initiative will involve training, which will be conducted by national and international film dignitaries, technicians and specialists in 16 job roles. Sources say that the film union has announced a three-day work holiday for this skill development programme during the second week of November, making it a worker-driven initiative.
