2006 Mumbai suburban train blasts: 12 SIMI guilty
Court held all accused guilty of criminal conspiracy & waging war against Government of India
Mumbai: A special MCOCA court in Mumbai on Friday convicted 12 of the 13 accused in the 2006 serial blasts case, which had rocked local suburban trains nine years ago. The court will hear arguments of the prosecution and defence on Monday for deciding the quantum of punishment.
There are five accused who have been convicted under Section 302 of the IPC (murder) and face the maximum punishment. These are Kamal Ahmed Ansari, 41, Dr Tanveer Ansari, 41, Mohammed Faisal Shaikh, 41, Ehtesham Siddique, 34, and Mohammed Majid Shafi, 37.
Apart from this, the court has held all the accused guilty of criminal conspiracy and waging war against the Government of India. Different accused have been convicted under relevant sections of various acts.
