GCDA signs MoU with Swiss company for solar project

KOCHI: The Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Switzerland based PVT Power Company for installing solar panels at Marine Drive to power its walkway named Kalam Marg and shopping complex.
 
As per the MoU, the company will initially erect a 50 kilowatt solar panel before 2016 February and will provide solar energy to GCDA for the next 30 years without any cost.
 
The project has been named as ‘PVT Power–Kalam Jyothi’. During a function on Friday GCDA Secretary R. Lalu and PVT Power Company chairman Demetrio Leone signed the MoU.  
 
“The GCDA will not have any financial commitment for the project and if the pilot project is successful, we will shift all our offices and other establishments to solar power”, GCDA Chairman N. Venugopal said.
