Since he played the baddie Kalakeya in Baahubali, Prabhakar’s life has changed. He had debuted with Maryada Ramanna, also directed by Rajamouli, and had made a name for himself… but nothing like this.
Known these days as Kalakeya Prabhakar, the actor is overwhelmed with the response. “I received invites from many cities in North India for the recently concluded Krishnashtami. And I didn’t expect so many people to turn up. I was surprised to see youngsters whistling and dancing when they saw me. They enjoyed my dialogues (in the Kiliki language, specially formulated for Baahubali),” he says.
Fan craze: Prabhakar at the event in Pune
He, however, does not have much time to attend all of these functions. “I had signed a Kannada film and the Telugu film, Bengal Tiger, before the release of Baahubali. I am busy with these two films,” says the actor.
And for Ganesh Chaturthi, the actor is going to Delhi, Allahabad and a few more North Indian cities to visit Ganesh pandals. “I can’t tell you how crazy the crowd was when I visited Pune,” he says. The local MLA Babul Shinde had invited Prabhakar. The actor will be going to Pune again during the upcoming festival on an invite.
He is also invited for other occasions, like for the opening of restaurants and he manages to make a tidy sum from these outings. “It’s all because of Baahubali,” says the actor.
He is now cautious about his future projects. “I am getting a lot of offers, but I don’t want to do the same villain roles,” he says, adding, “I am interested in doing Bollywood films too.”
