Gang of 6 held with ancient idols in Kukatpally
The gang came to Hyderabad looking for buyers, when the Cyberabad police caught them
Hyderabad: A gang of six people has been arrested here along with three ancient Panchaloha idols worth Rs 1 crore, at Kukatpally. The 12th Century idols had been stolen from a temple in Parlapally village in Warangal district. The gang-leader is Bikshapati, a 76-year-old priest from Vangara Mandal of Karimnagar. The idols were of god Chennakesava Swamy and goddesses Bhudevi and Sridevi. The priest had, long ago, heard from elders about the high value of these idols. In the third week of July, he along with some others went to the village and broke into the temple one night, said DCP, Crime, Naveen Kumar.
After the theft, Mogullapally police had filed a case. Meanwhile, the gang came to Hyderabad looking for buyers, when the Cyberabad police caught them.
