Official’s wall wrecks 6 cars and house in Jubilee Hills
Nearly six cars and two motorcycles were also damaged in the mishap
Hyderabad: A 40-feet under construction compound wall collapsed due to heavy rains at the Journalist Colony in Nandagiri Hills in the Jubilee Hills area.
The debris fell on the roof of a house belonging to AP revenue principal secretary (Endowments) J.S.V. Prasad and partly damaged it. Nearly six cars and two motorcycles were also damaged in the mishap.
The owners of the house and vehicles and GHMC lodged a complaint with the police. Plots No: 97 & 98 of Nandagiri Hills belong to a retired Maharashtra cadre IAS officer.
But the registration as per GHMC records show Usharani, Ravi, Balaram and Prasanna as owners of the plots. They handed over the land to Aditya Constructions to develop the land.
The builder started construction without precautions and filled the plot with around 100 trucks of soil to level the land. Even before the soil was levelled, the builder started constructing the wall without adequate foundation.
“Due to the recent heavy rains the soil became heavy with water and collapsed,” said Jubilee Hills inspector Venkat Reddy.
Based on a complaint from former IG K.R.K. Prasad, who is a relative of Mr J.S.V. Prasad, and other car owners, the police registered a case of negligence under Section 336.
Sources said the builder had encroached into a neighbouring GHMC park too.
