Stamp released in memory of P S Kailasam, former judge of Supreme Court of India
Rajnikanth received the stamp at a function organised on Saturday

Chennai: The Chief Justice of Madras High Court, Sanjay Kishan Kaul, released a commemorative stamp in memory of P.S Kailasam, former judge of Supreme Court of India. Actor Rajnikanth received the stamp at a function organised on Saturday. Many eminent citizens also graced the occasion including P. Chidambaram, former finance minister, textile baron Dr Nalli Kuppuswamy Chettiar and famous lyricist airamuthu among others.
Several members of Kailasam’s family were also present at the stamp release, including his daughter Kanchi Kailasam, Dr Vimala Ramalingam, senior advocate Nalini Chidambaram, Padmini Sivasubramaniam and Dr Sadayavel Kailasam among other family members.
Speaking at the occasion, Kanchi Kailasam spoke about her father being one of the earliest jurists to be elevated to the Supreme Court of India and also being a champion of women’s empowerment. Even though he practised law with doyens such as Justice P.V. Raha Munnar he encouraged his wife to pursue her passion for delivering spiritual sermons and also encouraged both his daughters to focus on our careers, me on medicine and my sister on law,” she said.
Kanchi Kailasam also spoke about she learnt virtu-es of tolerance and equality from him and also praised his ability to maintain close friendship with his atheist friends while his own wife preached the values of ancient scriptures. Kailasam’s family thanked Chief Justice Sanjay Kaul and super star Rajnikanth for being present at the event.
