Chennai: Mystery shrouds the death of a Bengaluru man who allegedly committed suicide at a farmhouse belonging to a city based doctor on East Coast Road on Saturday night.
The victim, Jai (28) came to the city with his friend Madan and three others from Bengaluru to spend the weekend at the farmhouse in Panaiyur near Neelangarai.
The farmhouse belongs to Dr Amudhan of T.Nagar, police sources said adding that six of them came in two cars and were staying at the farmhouse on Dravyam street. Investigations revealed that there was a party on Saturday night after which all of them retired to sleep.
On Sunday morning, others found Jai had not been seen for a long while. After a futile search of Jai’s room and around the farmhouse, one of them found him hanging from the ‘frame’ of the water heater inside the bathroom, according to a police officer.
Jai’s friends brought him down and he was moved to the Government Royapettah Hospital after which the police were informed. “The reason for the suicide is not known yet. There is no suicide note. Investigations with friends revealed that Jai was upset over a few personal issues and came over to Chennai from Bengaluru to cool off,” a senior police officer said.
Jai’s father is the main dealer of a famous undergarment brand in Bengaluru, police said. Kanathur Police have registered a case of suspicious death and are investigating. “We are waiting for the family members to reach the city to go ahead with the post mortem,” a senior police officer added.
