Bengaluru: Taking serious note of  second rung Congress leaders not working enough to reach out to people,  former union minister, K. Rehman Khan on Sunday said these leaders need to wake up.

Speaking at a felicitation programme organised by the KPCC’s minority cell here, Mr Khan said, “I squarely blame second rung leaders. Our party has almost 18 cells whose area of work was decided long ago but of late our leaders are more interested in heading these units than working honestly after getting the position.”

According to him, had these units worked in tandem and ensured the party and state government’s programmes reached people, the party would not have fared badly in the BBMP polls. “We lost it because our leaders are becoming accustomed to the comforts of a chamber rather than sweating it out with people on the street,” Mr. Khan said.
