Hyderabad: Political banners will no longer find space in the University of Hyderabad. The university administration put its foot down recently and sent a circular for removal of banners by September 11. It had also said that if the same was not followed, the university would do it itself. As the unions did not follow the orders, on Saturday university security officials removed the banners from the campus.
The university administration is growing uneasy with protests becoming commonplace on the campus and students frequently entering the V-C’s chamber whenever there is an issue. A CCTV footage from the university’s vice-chancellor’s chamber was posted on Facebook by a student on Sunday in which a stream of students can be seen entering the VC’s chamber and some even indulging in physical and verbal intimidation. A university official said, “There is a mechanism to resolve any issue but students come to the V-C directly over every silly issue.”
