Pune: When two co-stars in love, they don’t leave any stone unturned in praising each other and so does Deepika and Ranveer Singh. Recently, at the song launch of 'Bajirao Mastani', Deepika and Ranveer spoke about how they got into the skin of their characters, the training they underwent and what they admire about each other.

Talking about her character Mastani, Deepika said, "I would say she is very inspiring. I wish she was alive today so that I could see her and interact with her. It was not just about her beauty but also her strength of a woman. She was a lover, a nurturer and a warrior. I believe all women have these qualities in them. It’s just that some are more pronounced."

She further added that “It is the toughest film of my career. I don’t enjoy talking about the effort one has put into it because at the end it’s what one has to showcase on the big screen. In our case, I remember saying 'Ram Leela' was physically and emotionally draining and at that time it felt so difficult.  But now when we are doing ‘Bajirao Mastani’, I feel ‘Ram Leela’ was so easy. In spite of living in the same city, we moved closer to the set to maximize on time. Apart from 14 hours of shoot, we had fight classes, horse riding and workouts too."

Ranveer, on the other hand, said that it's an honour for him to essay the role of the ruler. He said, "The more deeper I get into his life, the more I understand what an amazing man he was. It's an honour for me to be selected to play this character. To play the role of such stature, such depth...who is achieved so much in his life, it has been an intense experience for me. I actually had to lock myself up and focus to create something distinct. It is not easy to play a distinct character, you need to travel back in time and enter the skin of the character. None of my films has demanded so much of me. An actor gets this opportunity once in his career. It was extremely fulfilling as I had a lot to give towards my craft."

When Deepika was asked how Ranveer has changed as a human being and as an actor, the actress said, "I think as a person, he is pretty much the same. Same amount of energy, protective. Whereas he has changed tremendously as an actor. I would say that after ‘Band Baaja Baraat’, ‘Ram Leela’ was one of the most defining moments in his career. I genuinely feel that he is one of the most versatile actor in the current lot. He has done so many different movies not for the sake of it but also does it very convincingly."

The team is shooting the climax scene, talking about it, Deepika said, "We will be done by end of this month. We have three week of work left starting from tomorrow. And then it’s a wrap. Trailer will be launched next month."
