Hyderabad: The Cyberabad cyber crime police on Tuesday will take custody of Abdul Majid, who blackmailed girls on Facebook, to probe what he did with the nude photos that he had collected from his victims.
Meanwhile, only 12 victims have come forward so far to cooperate with the case while others do not want to get into legal tangles. “Majid is in judicial remand now, and we will be taking him into custody for further interrogation. We have to find out if he had shared the photographs with anybody, or used them in any other way,” said an investigation official from Cyber Crime police station.
Though cops have not found any evidence of him uploading the pictures on the Internet, the possibility of him selling them to pornographic sites is also being verified. During initial interrogation, Majid had confessed to his crime and had elaborated his modus operandi.
But he had not given any information about Rs 80,000 that he had allegedly extorted from a victim, which had come to light after the police went through his chat history. However, the cops are yet to go through all his chats as they comprise 18 months of conversations.
Meanwhile, police officials say that many of the victims have expressed their unwillingness to come forward even after Majid’s arrest, fearing privacy issues and legal entanglements. “We are organising a meeting with the victims on Tuesday to take their versions of the offence,” said cyber crime inspector Md. Riyazuddin.
