Naveen Patnaik announces Rs 3 lakh for Rout family
'Patnaik said he spoke to Arvind Kejriwal and demanded action'
Bhubaneswar: Seeking stringent action against persons responsible for the death of a 7-year-old boy leading to suicide by his parents in New Delhi, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday announced an ex-gratia of Rs 3 lakh for the victim's family.
Expressing grief over the death of the boy allegedly due to lack of proper treatment in any hospital at the national capital, Patnaik said he spoke to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and demanded action against erring hospitals.
Patnaik also directed the District Collector of Kendrapara district to cover the family of late Laxman Rout under different social security schemes.
Laxman Rout and his wife Babita allegedly committed suicide after the death of their only son Avinash due to suspected dengue on September 8. The boy was allegedly denied admission at two prominent private hospitals the previous day. Patnaik said the ex-gratia of Rs 3 lakh would be given to the family of Rout from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund (CMRF).
