Hyderabad: Cyberabad police on Tuesday got 10 day custody of Afsha Jabeen alias Nicky Joseph, who was allegedly recruiting youngsters online for global terror outfit IS.

Jabeen is likely to be taken to Kashmir to verify her connection with a person named Bakaar, whom she was in touch with for a long time, like she had been with Salman Mohiuddin. Investigation officials are now verifying if Bakaar is a Lashkar operative.

She had also been chatting with another person from Delhi, said sources. Senior officials said that Jabeen had started browsing and listening to IS ideologies in her home in UAE. “Her husband used to go for work and her daughters would go to school. Since she had nothing much to do at home, she got into the habit of browsing extremist websites  and got inspired,” said a senior police official from Shamshabad.

While Jabeen was in judicial remand, the police had questioned her husband and other family members.

She did not offer much information during initial interrogation and the cops expect to extract more information about her activities now. They also want to verify whether she had direct contacts with IS members online. Apart from the Cyberabad police, the Counter Intelligence cell will also be interrogating her to know if she had built a network in the country.
