Bengaluru: A 53-year-old forest officer was found dead on the premises of his apartment complex in Pulikeshinagar police limits Tuesday.

The deceased, John D. Bhaktul, was working as a senior scientific officer with the Department of Forest, Ecology and Environment at M.S. Building. A loner, he was living in a rented flat on the fourth floor of the apartment. He had moved in around six months ago and did not mingle with anyone.

John had no parents and was not married. He was depressed, the police said. On Monday night after coming back from work, he went into his flat and locked himself.

Around 4 am on Tuesday, a security guard saw the body and alerted the police. The police shifted the body to Bowring hospital. “Though it is unclear whether he jumped to his death or had fallen accidentally, there is no foul play suspected,” the police said.
