Bengaluru: A seven-year-old boy who went missing on Sunday was found dead at an excavation pit in Manyata Tech Park on Tuesday morning. The boy, Narasimhamurthy, a first standard student, was the son of Muniraju, a waterman with the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board.

Narasimhamurthy had gone with his friends, Kiran and Darshan to play at a park on the Manyata Tech Park premise on Sunday around 2 pm. But they returned without Narasimhamurthy and told his parents that they could not find him anywhere. The parents lodged a missing complaint at the Sampigehalli police station on Sunday evening and the police launched a search operation.

During the search operation, the body came floating in the rainwater filled pit on Tuesday morning. His body was shifted to B.R. Ambedkar Hospital for the postmortem and the doctors confirmed to the police that it was a clear case of drowning. The police have taken up a negligence case against Mantri Developers for leaving the excavated pit without fencing.

The pit was dug near an under-construction building that was a multi-storied residential complex inside Manyata Tech Park, the senior police officer said.
