Bengaluru: With Suresh Raina looking for practice games ahead of the marathon Mahatma Gandhi-Nelson Mandela series against South Africa, a young India ‘A’ side captained by Unmukt Chand will take on an experienced Bangladesh A outfit in the first of the three unofficial ODI matches here on Wednesday.
Having tasted success in the recent series against South Africa ‘A’ and Australia ‘A’, Unmukt’s boys will be looking to carry forward the winning momentum against the visitors led by Mominul Haque. Compared to the hosts, the Bangladesh unit boasts a far more seasoned line-up. Besides Raina, who has 218 ODI appearances, only five others have featured in the senior side. The Rahul Dravid-coached outfit will their have task cut out against the Tigers, who have 10 players with international experience.
All eyes will be on the Mayank Agarwal, who impressed with 409 runs in the India ‘A’ tri-series. He topped the scoring charts with two centuries at an incredible average of 81. With three fifties to his name, a credible performance from Unmukt could find him a place in the senior team.
