Kozhikode: After a wait for six months,  the students of Kozhikode Medical College have got their demands for a lecture hall, renovation of both the men and women’s hostels and other basic facilities  sanctioned on Wednesday following their protest before the principal’s room.

The students have been demanding the renovation of the college hostel and recently four students of the college were bitten by snakes.  A few girls of the college were harassed by some people from outside the campus at night.  According to Jishad, college union chairman, they had submitted a list of  their  grievances to the principal, including about the continuing harassment of the inmates by the assistant warden.

“Following  our protest,  the principal decided to approve our demands and immediately called for a meeting with the engineering, electricity and other departments and issued a deadline to complete the work,” he  said.

The lecture hall  is packed with damaged chair and low quality audio- visual system. “We need at least a facility to accommodate 250 students at a time, for which the principal has assured  to take necessary steps,” Jishad said.
